Oswald Boelcke by Ivan Berryman. Hauptmann Oswald Boelcke was a shining example of everything that a fighter pilot should be, but his real legacy was his set of rules - Dicta Boelcke - that he devised for air combat, outlining techniques and tactics that became the standard for many generations of fighter pilots to come. He is shown in the aircraft in which he lost his life on 28th October 1916 when his all-black Albatross D.I was involved in a collision with his own wingman. Boelckes final tally was 40 victories. |
